Multinational - African Trade Insurance

This project is a technical assistance operation that will be used to build institutional capacities and technical skills of African Trade Insurance Agency (ATI) staff. ATI is a multilateral financial insurance company that operates in 10 African countries. It is the only institution in Africa that offers political risk insurance and whole trade credit insurance. The proposed technical assistance activities include: (i) Strengthening corporate governance; (ii) Implementing an underwriting system; (iii) Strengthening communication technology infrastructure; (iv) Enhancing human resources management skills; (v) Improving ATI's ability to meet customer needs in existing member states; (vi) Developing a marketing strategy; and (vii) Carrying out a survey on the trade market in the region to assess the impact of the recession and the need for alternative products. Upon the satisfactory achievement of the key performance indicators, the African Development Bank Group will providing additional financing to assist ATI to increase its capital base and expand its activities across the continent.
