Description

Description

This project focuses on the conservation and improvement of livelihoods through the sustainable management of community forestry operations in Cameroon. It aims to maintain vegetation cover and improve the incomes of forest communities. The project will enable community forest enterprises to be set up and sustainable forest management practices to be developed so that these licences can be FSC-certified. Through study tours, training and support with administrative procedures provided by two experienced Cameroonian NGOs, the project aims to enable the emergence of autonomous, financially viable, legal and FSC-certified community forestry enterprises. The results in terms of institutional development can be measured in terms of the number of simple management plans drawn up or revised by the project (9), groups legalised (4), legal timber depots created (2) or the number of grouped winders (2) enabling community incomes to be increased.
