Description | The present operation concerns the feasibility study of the Nyimur Multipurpose Water Resources Project which is part of the Nile Equatorial Lakes Subsidiary Action Program (NELSAP) of the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI). The Nyimur river valley, located in the Aswa River Basin covers just over 31,000 km² in Northern, Eastern and Northeastern Uganda and in the Magwi county of Easter Equatoria state of South Sudan. The core scheme of the project consists of a 26 m-head dam and reservoir on Nyimur River and five (5) modules of irrigated lowland rice of approximately 5,105 ha. A mini hydropower plant with a capacity of 350 kW is included in the dam component. This study will establish a water resources information/knowledge base and institutional development of the target project area. It includes the following three components: (i) Consultancy services for Technical and Economic Feasibility Studies and Tender Design Studies; (ii) Consultancy services for Environmental and Social Impact Assessment and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP); and (iii) Project management, communication and consultations. |
