Description
Description | The project Leveraging Digital Systems for Emergency Preparedness and Response to Food Crises (EmergenSys) is a multinational project covering three counties in the horn and in the great lacks regions of Africa namely in DRC, South Sudan and in Somalia. The overall goal is to contribute to improving resilience to climatic and food security shocks and crises in the DRC, South Sudan, and Somalia. The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to improve emergency preparedness and responsiveness using digital tools and EW-EA systems in the DRC, South Sudan, and Somalia. The intervention will enhance resilience to climate and non-climate related threats in fragile states at community, sub national, national, and regional levels through knowledge sharing in best practices for deployment of e-registry and early warning systems for emergency response. The project focus on e-registry and seed security digitization will also support improved beneficiary tracking and identification for the distribution of benefits and inputs in emergency situations while enhancing development partner coordination abilities and evidence-based crisis response. The project will be implemented through three components i) Expanding farmer e-registration and digitally enabled early warning services; ii) Strengthen and digitalize the seed sector; and iii) Project and knowledge management. |
