Description

Description

This Project seeks to strengthen institutional capacity for entrepreneurship and innovation development and job creation in Djibouti, South Sudan and Sudan. The Project aims at bringing together learning institutions (at tertiary level), the private sector and the governments to: (i) strengthen E&I at institutional, national and regional levels; and (ii) stimulate employment opportunities for youth by supporting and promoting the establishment of start-ups led by young entrepreneurs. As described in subsequent sections, Djibouti, South Sudan and Sudan with a poverty rate of 34.3%, 76.4% and 55.9%, respectively, are amongst the countries in the IGAD region with the highest poverty and youth unemployment levels, largely due to fragility, conflict, and violence (FCV). These countries are also highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, which result in natural disasters, leading to loss of livelihoods for the population, including youth.
