Multinational - SADC Region – Technical Assistance to the Southern Africa Transport and Communications Commission (SATCC)

This project is a support for building technical capacity of the Southern Africa Transport and Communications Commission (SATCC). The technical assistance to be provided under the project will assist SATCC-TU in its task of providing technical and other advice to the SADC member countries at the regional level in the implementation of the Transport Protocol. The SADC Protocol on Transport and Communications signed in August 1996 is a significant step towards attaining the goal of achieving increased economic integration and development in the SADC member States, through the establishment of an efficient and cost-effective transport and communication system. The proposed project consists of four main components: (i) Institutional Strengthening, (ii) Improvement of Road Safety, (iii) Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS, and (iv) Audit. The total cost is USD 2.3 million (UA 1.71 million). The project will be implemented over a period of 3 years.
