Description

Description

The Strengthening West Africa's Public Health Systems (SWAPHS) Project in response to the Ebola Crisis was initiated in light of the magnitude of the Ebola epidemic in the West African sub-region. Sierra Leone is one of the countries where this project has been implemented. This project focuses on three broad strategic outcomes: building human capacity and systems for emergency response and preparedness; developing infrastructure; and strengthening governance and regional institutions. In the short term, the project will support technical capacity strengthening to set up emergency responses in the event of an outbreak. In the long term, the project shall strengthen public health systems’ capacity to provide epidemiological surveillance and implement response systems to current and potential future epidemics. The project total cost, excluding taxes and duties, is estimated at UA 40 million, and its total duration should not exceed 8 months.
