Multinational - Strengthening West Africa’s Public Health Systems Response to the Ebola Crisis (SWAPHS)

The West African Public Health Systems Strengthening Project (SWAPHS) was initiated in view of the scale of the Ebola epidemic in the West African sub-region. The project focuses on three main strategic outcomes: strengthening human capacities and emergency response and preparedness systems, infrastructure development and strengthening regional governance and institutions. In the short term, this project should support the development of technical capacity to develop emergency responses to outbreaks. In the long term, it should strengthen the capacity of public health systems, provide epidemiological surveillance and implement the response to current and future epidemics. The total cost of the project, excluding taxes and duties, is estimated at UA 40 million and its total duration should not exceed 8 months.
