Description | The study into the contribution of the Jewelry Manufacturing and its Impact on Value Addition, Job Creation, and the Economic Empowerment of Women and Youth aims to address gender inequalities in human development, access to services, and sustainable development. The project is also aligned with the Gender Equality Strategy and Jobs for Youth in Africa strategy through sustainable job creation and provision of capacity building activities in all three countries. It is consistent with the Bank’s strategy of Addressing Fragility and Building Resilience in Africa (2014-2019), and the Bank CSPs for Zimbabwe, Sierra Leoneand Republic of Guinea for effective governance and management of minerals. This Value Chain Analysis Study has been prepared with support from the country offices and the Transition States Coordination Office, (RDTS) and in consultation with the respective Governments. The proposed project comprises of two (02) major components: (i) Mineral Value Chain study in the 3 pilot countries (Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone and Republic of Guinea) and (ii) Capacity building activities for Women and Youth entrepreneurs operating in the jewelry manufacturing value chain (trained in cutting, polishing and jewelry manufacturing by country). |
