Description
Description | The purpose of the study on higher education in eight member countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) is to make a sectoral diagnosis and identify strategies and actions that can help improve sustainably the higher education systems of the countries concerned, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo. The study will address the problems of higher education, not within the strict national framework as in the past, but within a multinational framework, justified by the similarity of the problems encountered and the solutions thereto. The regional integration framework represented by the WAEMU offers a great opportunity to stimulate and support a joint study and to provide a permanent institutional framework that can better guarantee, in the medium and long-term, the sustainability of the policies and commitments resulting from the study. The study will take place over 18 months in two phases: (i) phase one aimed at making a diagnosis of the situation and determining the options to be considered for the preparation of a support project; and (ii) phase two whose objective is to validate the various options identified for the preparation of the future project. The total cost of the study is estimated at UA 1.80 million. |
