Description
Description | The Regional Agro-Industrial Value Chains Competitiveness Support Project (PACFAR) aims to strengthen the development of economic corridors and regional trade by improving the competitiveness of cross-border agro-industrial value chains. PACFAR is a technical assistance project that builds on activities from sovereign projects financed by the AfDB, including the Private Sector Development and Promotion Project in the Far North and the Agro Park Central Plain and Large-Scale Producers Installation Project. The project seeks to structure and develop cross-border agri-food value chains while optimizing logistical and commercial infrastructure (border markets and dry ports) to boost trade between Cameroon, Chad, and the Central African Republic (CAR). It also focuses on revitalizing two major economic corridors, which play a key role in strengthening regional integration and trade: (1) the Douala–N’Djamena Corridor, the main logistics route for exports and imports between Cameroon and Chad; and (2) the Douala–Bangui Corridor, an essential route for supporting trade flows with the CAR. These corridors serve to connect agricultural production areas (particularly in northern Cameroon) with consumer markets in Chad and the CAR, thereby enhancing trade fluidity and regional competitiveness. The support provided to stakeholders in the targeted value chains takes the form of a technical assistance program designed to strengthen their operational, financial, and resource mobilization capacities, as well as their ability to engage technical partners, in order to make them more competitive. |
