Description

Description

Structural Upgrade of 5 watermains crossing underneath the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) tracks/yard within the limits of the City of Dryden. These existing Watermains lines feed north Dryden as well as providing looping of the City mains. The watermains have install dates of 1927 to 1980 and range in size from 150mm to 300mm. Should these lines ever develop a leak or break it could be catastrophic as this would split Canada in half with the stoppage of rail traffic, derailment or hazardous goods issue if the leak were to go unnoticed or while repairs are being done. At the very least a very difficult and expensive leak to repair. Structural Liners in these mains would dramatically reduce the risk the City currently holds. Doing these 5 watermains at once in the same year will allow the City to use the economics of scale considering our location and specialized type of work. These 5 mains under the CPR tracks service half the community of Dryden affecting 1750 households. The watermains would be relined at the following locations (includes year installed, diameter, length) 1. West end of Queen Street to Government Road 1927 - 200mm - 110 m 2. Earl Ave/ Queen Street Intersection to Government Rd 1980 - 300mm - 92m 3. 250 King Street to Highway #17 1947 - 150mm - 65m 4. Colonization Ave South to Colonization Ave North 1970 - 300mm - 60m 5. East End of Duke Street to South End of Keith Avenue 1979 - 300mm - 90m
