Multisectoral food security programme in Malawi

The project supports the Malawian government in implementing the First 1,000 Days program, which began in 2011 as part of the Scaling Up Nutrition Initiative (SUN), with a financial contribution of EUR 9.0 million. The project will run for four years (beginning in 2016). The target group is primarily pregnant women, infants and young children, as well as women of reproductive age. In the project districts of Lilongwe and Dowa, a package of measures is being implemented in line with the SUN initiative, which includes - supply of micronutrients and medication for the prevention and treatment of nutrition-related diseases. - multi-sectoral measures to change behavior in the sense of better nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and young children, including in the areas of hygiene and health.
