Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) has proposed Mumbai Metro Line 11, a 17.5km underground metro route from Anik Depot to Gateway of India via Nagpada and Bhendi Bazaar. The line will have one station at ground level (Anik Depot) and the rest underground, passing through dense areas of South Mumbai. The project is awaiting state approval and will be forwarded to the union government after initial clearance. The metro train will initially have six coaches, with a depot proposed at the Anik - Pratiksha Nagar BEST bus depot integrating metro and bus infrastructure. The line will intersect with other metro lines, monorail, and suburban railway stations. Construction methods include cut and cover for eight stations and New Austrian Tunneling Method for five stations. Ridership projections estimate 580,000 commuters in 2031 and 869,000 in 2041.
