Mumbai Pune Expressway Expansion

Planned

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) plans to expand the Mumbai Pune Expressway from six lanes to a ten-lane corridor. The project aims to decongest the busy expressway, improve road safety, and enhance regional connectivity. It includes adding two lanes in each direction, integrating emergency lanes, smart surveillance, and quicker incident response mechanisms. The project report has been prepared and is awaiting state cabinet approval. The expansion will be executed in multiple stages with minimal disruption to traffic. Funding is expected from toll revenues, with a possible public-private partnership model under consideration.
