Municipality of Grand Lake - Chipman Wastewater Treatment System Replacement
Sector: Water Supply and Storage • Location: New Brunswick, Canada
Source: Infrastructure Canada
This project involves replacing an existing wastewater treatment facility (WwTF, 45+ years old) with a fully new treatment facility, including a new outfall pipe. The new WwTF will be sized with a design average flow capacity of approximately 930 m3/d (and up to 1 550 m3/d under 30-day sustained high flow conditions). This design flow is based on an estimated existing residential population of 1 2

Description
Description | This project involves replacing an existing wastewater treatment facility (WwTF, 45+ years old) with a fully new treatment facility, including a new outfall pipe. The new WwTF will be sized with a design average flow capacity of approximately 930 m3/d (and up to 1 550 m3/d under 30-day sustained high flow conditions). This design flow is based on an estimated existing residential population of 1 200 people, an anticipated future population growth of up to 650 people, and existing domestic flows generated from commercial, institutional and industrial sources estimated at an equivalent of 600 people. Note: The WwTF will not be designed to accommodate industrial-type wastewater sources. The proposed treatment process is based on aerated lagoon and low-temperature nitrification treatment technologies generally consisting of the following components: raw wastewater (influent) pumping station, aerated lagoons, nitrification process, UV disinfection, treated effluent pumping station, outfall pipeline, other amenities (raw wastewater grinding/fine-screening, odour control, emergency stand-by power, control buidling, SCADA communications), and bio-solds handling/disposal. The existing WwTF will be decommissioned. The existing oxidation ditch process component will be re-furbished for dewatered waste bio-solids disposal. The new UV disinfection process (2020/2021) will be incorporated into the upgraded wastewater treatment process train. |
