Description
Description | The Municipality of the County of Colchester has proposed to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, totaling 584 kW AC, to supply renewable electricity to two community and two municipal facilities. Three net-metered systems and one behind-the-meter system will allow generation of electricity to power the buildings, including two community recreation centres, a municipal library, and a municipal water treatment plant. Electricity savings from projects will reduce operating costs for the facilities, allowing them to reallocate costs to maintenance upgrades, expand community offerings/programming, and to help invest in future renewable energy projects. The two community facilities are owned by non-profit community recreation associations. For the solar installations at the two community facilities, the Municipality will own the installed assets, while the recreation associations will be responsible for operating and maintaining the equipment and will benefit from the electricity cost savings. The Municipality will sign a Memorandum of Agreement with the recreation associations to define ownership, roles, and responsibilities. Project Breakdown: - North Shore Recreation Centre, owned by NSRC: 100 kW AC / 135 kW DC - West Colchester United Arena, owned by West Colchester Recreation Association: 100 kW AC / 137 kW DC - Central Colchester Wastewater Treatment Plant, owned by Municipality of Colchester: 366 kW AC / 500 kW DC - Tatamagouche Branch Library, owned by Municipality of Colchester: 18 kW AC / 24 kW DC |
