Description

Description

The project consists of upgrades to the Neils Harbour Water Treatment Plant. The scope of the work involves the installation of a membrane filtration system as well as expansion of the existing building which would add a washroom, proper operator office/storage area and laboratory facilities. The project aims to improve the quality of the water treatment facility. The Municipality of the County of Victoria currently operates a conventional water treatment plant in the community of Neil’s Harbour which was constructed in 1995. The existing surface water source (Trout Brook), has been very challenging to treat and achieve a Nova Scotia Environment compliant treated water quality. The Municipality wish to introduce a more operator friendly, robust system that has an inherent ability to handle the varying conditions of raw water experienced at this plant. In assessing technologies with the Municipality, we see these attributes in plants using membrane technology. This technology provides additional benefits as compared with plants using conventional filtration. The membrane filtration system will take the place of the existing filter. This would require a building expansion which would also have a washroom, proper operator office/storage area and laboratory facilities.
