Description
Description | The project consists of upgrades to the water and sewer system on Main Street South and Prince Streets in the former Town of Hantsport. The scope of the work involves approximately 544 metres of new right sized potable water distribution main; separation of combined sewer, resulting in approximately 544 metres of new sanitary and 600 metres storm water main, and reinstatement of roadway and sidewalk infrastructure. The project aims to improve the quality of the water system and improvements to the sewer disposal system. Scope of the project will be the replacement of all underground infrastructure and rehabilitation of sidewalk and roadway infrastructure along Main Street (Willow Street to Prince Street) and Prince Street (Main Street to Oak Street). This infrastructure rehabilitation is needed to ensure high quality potable water and adequate fire flow to the core of the community, and to separate combined sewers, putting clean storm water to appropriate discharge points, thus reducing hydraulic loading and associated treatment costs on the Sanitary Sewer Treatment Facility, and reducing sanitary Pumping Station costs along the way. These needs were identified as a high priority in an infrastructure study conducted during the dissolution process for the former Town of Hantsport. This project will clearly meet the relevant immediate outcomes of increased access to high quality potable water with new right sized water mains with the added benefit of adequate water supply to meet community fire flow requirements which are not currently available. Also there is the increased capacity to treat and manage wastewater and stormwater by separating stormwater from sanitary sewer mains. The project will be managed by a public tender selected Engineering Firm. |
