The project involved the construction of a world-class terminal to replace the old domestic terminal gutted by fire. The project faced a protracted legal and operational dispute between the Federal Government and BiCourtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL) for over two decades, involving litigation, unpaid debts, and stalled infrastructure. The dispute was recently resolved through a comprehensive settlement approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), which included waiving a large judgment debt, relocating regional flight operations to MMA2, and removing exclusivity clauses to allow other private airport developments. |
