Description | The project involves the construction of the Museum of the Viking Age on the Bygdøy peninsula southwest of Oslo, Norway. Building with an area of 13,000 sq. m will complement the 95-year-old Viking Ship Museum, which previously housed ships found in burials in Oseberg, Gokstad and Thun. The museum will preserve more than 8,000 finds from the Viking Age. The project design from AART is a loop lined with local slate that connects to the two wings of the cruciform museum ship. This design of the museum will open it to others and create an inner courtyard. |
