Music City Loop Tunnel Project

The Music City Loop is a proposed underground transit loop that would carry passengers between downtown Nashville and Nashville International Airport. A bill is progressing through the Tennessee legislature to create a new state entity, the Subterranean Transportation Infrastructure Coordination Authority, to oversee and fast-track tunnel-based transit projects including this loop. The bill has been amended to reduce the size and cost of the authority, limiting it to three full-time employees and a 12-member oversight board. The authority would help streamline permits, resolve disputes, coordinate with agencies, and accept federal funding to facilitate underground transit projects.
