Description

When it comes to education of students with disabilities, two cross-border cities, Virovitica and Szentlőrinc share the same interest. Through the project proposal, two schools will be connected to raise awareness of children in the border region and to highlight importance of music and creativity for students with disabilities. By implementing joint activities, linguistic barriers will be overcome, new co-operation will be created, integration of students with disabilities will be increased and new friendships will be established between the two schools and its participants. Two schools, COOR Virovitica and Szentlőrinc, are ready to learn from each other and to develop cross-border co-operation through the project, improve pupil’s education and the work of the school itself. The proposed project contributes to the specific objective 4.1, which concerns the improvement of the role of educational institutions as intellectual centres for increasing the level of knowledge in the region. Through the joint organization of music and creative workshops of natural and non-edited materials, the aim is to enrich their knowledge, speech and physical development to achieve greater integration of students with disabilities in the border area. The project includes activities related to the organization of traditional music and creative workshops for students and teachers of two cross-border schools wishing to overcome linguistic barriers and cultural diversity. Three project partners are involved in the implementation of the project, of which 2 schools are involved in the education and training of students with disabilities, LB – COOR Virovitica, B1 - Szentlőrinci Egységes Gyógypedagógiai Módszertani Intézmény and DA VTA as B2. In the premises of two schools, 6 joint activities will be organized in the form of educational, musical and creative content. The project implementation duration is 20 months. The direct target group of the project are 50 students with disabilities of the age group of 7-21 years and also 33 teachers. Indirect target groups are other children from two schools, local population of the program area, parents of children involved in the project and media. Partners will participate equally in project implementation, but LB will be responsible for the overall implementation of the project. LB project staff will include a project manager, project coordinator, financial manager and 5 professors who are experts in their field. LB is responsible for organization and implementing 4 project activities (3 joint), also takes responsibility for all project reports, as well as for the entire coordination of project activities, financial part of the project, project visibility. B1 will be in charge for progress reports, project visibility and communication with all partners. B1 project staff will include communication manager and 6 professors responsible for the implementation of 4 activities (3 joint). B2 is a development agency with a respectable experience in implementation and it’s project staff will include communication manager responsible for communication with all project partners and project visibility. Activity include: an opening and closing conference, 9 joint workshops, the project website developed, 6 newspaper articles, education for teachers working with disadvantaged students. Expected outputs: 3 rooms equipped, 184 participants participated directly in the implementation of activities, printed 300 picturebook and 300 booklets for teachers, promotional materials. Expected results are: increased awareness of children on the common musical and cultural values of the cross-border area and the development of a higher sense of belonging to the community without borders; increased inclusion of marginalized groups of children in additional education workshops and the increased social inclusion of marginalized groups of children.
