Musical exchange between German and French music clubs

The Kreiskulturzentrum Villa Fuchs (Centre of Culture of the Merzig-Wadern region) organises in cooperation with the Musikveein Cäcilia 1907 Bietzen e.V., Merzig Bietzen (Germany), and the Société Union de la musique Distroff (France) “Brass connects”.The partnership between the two music clubs should be expanded, intensified and consolidated. To this end, citizen meetings of musicians will take place on both the German and French sides during the project. The three project partners also organise a concert. A professional producer will then make a film with material from the citizens’ meetings, the event and the history of the two clubs. The partenaiat between the two clubs close to the border has been around for more than 40 years. This is mainly due to the fact that French workers were hired to work in Saarland. In Villeroy & Boch and Drahtcord, friendships have been formed between the musicians of Bietzen who work there and the commuters of the neighboring country. Over the years, one or more people have always been active in the Bietzen Music Association who were born in France and people who speak French fluently. For this reason, the partnership has been successfully maintained until today.
