ongoing

This proposal by OXO PRODUCTION presents two ambitious projects: The Adventures of a Turbo-Folk Princess and Symphony. Known for pushing creative boundaries in the Macedonian audiovisual sector, OXO seeks to expand its influence across Europe with these unique productions. The Adventures of a Turbo-Folk Princess is a vibrant musical dramedy set in the Balkans, exploring themes of ambition, social mobility, and cultural identity through the turbo-folk music scene. Co-developed with Bulgarian partners and potentially involving collaborators from Greece and Slovenia, this multinational production targets young, digital-native audiences across the Balkans and beyond. With its themes of resilience and diverse representation of ethnic, gender, and sexual identities, the series has already garnered international recognition, winning development awards at CineLink and Conecta Fiction. It promises to break cultural barriers and engage regional and global viewers with its authentic and modern storytelling. Symphony is a documentary that follows North Macedonian rapper Slatkaristika, who overcomes a speech impediment through music. This intimate portrayal showcases the transformative power of art and self-expression, aligning with global conversations on diversity and inclusion. With strong ties to the Balkan rap scene, the film touches on themes of creativity, empowerment, and resilience. The production also champions inclusivity by offering apprenticeship opportunities for underrepresented individuals in the film industry. OXO PRODUCTION's proposal highlights its capacity to navigate the evolving audiovisual landscape while contributing meaningfully to European cultural dialogue through diverse stories and strategic cross-border collaborations.
