The development objective of the Mining Governance and Growth Support Project for Malawi is to improve the efficiency, transparency and sustainability of mining sector management. There are four components to the project. The first component of the project is to managing mineral rights and operations. Under this component activity to support the government build an efficient, transparent and environmentally and socially sustainable framework for managing mineral rights and operations. The second component of the project is to generating and managing mineral revenue. Under this component activity to support the government to develops transparent arrangements for optimal generation and use of mineral revenues. The third component of the project is promoting the mining sector. Under this component activity to support the government improve the enabling environment for mining sector development by acquiring and disseminating geo-data foster more sustainable artisanal and small scale mining. The fourth component of the project is the project management. This component support at implementation to the Ministry of natural resources, energy and environment to undertake project management, in accordance with the Bank's fiduciary and other guidelines.
