Description | The project will serve as the vehicle for initiating measures that will strengthen the agricultural credit system while continuing Bank assistance to NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) in its program of medium and long term refinancing with participating credit institutions (commercial banks, land development banks, regional rural banks, and state cooperative banks) over the three year period, mid 1986 to mid 1989. Through the association with NABARD's ongoing refinancing of rural credit, the project will also help to increase agricultural production, rural income, and employment; in particular, it will emphasize assistance to small farmers. |
