Nadleh Whut’en Band: Nadleh Whut’en Community Skating Rink

The project will build an outdoor recreational facility that can be used year-round. During the summer months, the space can be used as a floor hockey arena, basketball court, and mini-soccer fields. During the winter months, the space can be used as a ice skating and hockey arena. In efforts to revive recreation (specifically hockey) in the community, requests have been made at General Band meetings to construct a year-round hockey arena. The arena would improve physical and mental health by proving community members with year-round recreation opportunities, and allowing Nadleh Whut’en to host friendly tournaments in summer and winter for youth, adults and elders. The project works will include: - Resurfacing and upgrading existing parking area; - Construction of a skating arena ; - Construction of bleacher style seating; - Development of a new septic field; - Lighting; - Extending power and water connections to facility; - Dressing room, showers and a food outlet; and, - Other related works.
