The MIHAN project involves the large-scale development and modernization of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport through a public-private partnership led by GMR Group. The initiative aims to transform Nagpur into a major aviation, cargo, logistics, and commercial hub due to its strategic central location in India. The project includes construction of a new passenger terminal, expansion of cargo handling and warehousing facilities, upgrades to airport infrastructure and connectivity, and integration with the broader MIHAN special economic zone (SEZ) and industrial township. It is expected to improve domestic and international air connectivity, attract investment, generate employment, and support long-term economic growth in the Vidarbha region.The scope of the project involves the development, operations and management of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, which serves the Indian city of Nagpur, in the central state of Maharashtra. The airport will have two runways, one with the capacity to operate cargo aircraft and an additional terminal building and commercial facilities.
