Description

Description

The project entails the construction work for a solar power plant in Nagreongo, Burkina Faso with planned capacity of 30MWp. The sponsor is the French company GreenYellow, which is executing the project in partnership with Africa Energy Coopération (AEC), a multi-donor programme that supports the development of markets for renewable energy in Africa. FMO signed a $25.7 million debt package for the $33.1 million project, which was awarded in April 2019. The debt package is split into 3 tranches, either provided directly by the Dutch DFI or by 2 of its syndicated vehicles - Interact Climate Change Facility (ICCF) and Access to Energy Fund (AEF). GreenYellow in April 2019 signed 25-year PPAs with the national energy utility Société Nationale d'électricité du Burkina Faso (SONABEL) to offtake energy from the solar IPP at a cost of $0.09 per kWh. MIGA has issued a 20-year, $4.5 million guarantee to GreenYellow to cover the equity in the project. Construction began in October 2020 and is scheduled to go live by the end of the 2021. Financial close was achieved in June 2021. https://www.fmo.nl/project-detail/58250 https://fr.greenyellow.com/en/news/miga-partners-greenyellow-support-solar-energy-burkina-faso https://www.miga.org/project/societe-de-production-denergie-solaire-de-ouagadougou-sas-0 https://constructionreviewonline.com/news/construction-of-nagreongo-solar-power-plant-in-burkina-faso-begins/
