Description | The Government of Kenya is in early talks to construct a four-lane, 482 KM expressway connecting Nairobi and Mombasa. A pre-feasibility study has been conducted by the Korean Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation Africa (KIND) with Kenya National Highways Authority (KenHA) and the Ministry of Transport. The expressway will start from Machakos Turn-Off to Mariakani, upgrading the current two-lane highway to a four-lane carriageway, including interchanges and bypasses in key towns along Mombasa Road. It is projected to create over 21,000 jobs during construction and an additional 2,573 jobs annually during operations and maintenance. This will be the second road project under Public Private Partnership after the Nairobi Expressway. |
