Description | The Government of Kenya is in early talks to construct a four-lane, 482 KM expressway connecting Nairobi and Mombasa. A pre-feasibility study has been conducted focusing on demand, traffic, and affordability projections. The expressway will upgrade the current two-lane highway to a four-lane carriageway from Machakos Turn-Off to Mariakani, including interchanges and bypasses in key towns along Mombasa Road. It is expected to create over 21,000 jobs during construction and an additional 2,573 jobs annually during operations and maintenance. This project will be the second Public Private Partnership road project after the Nairobi Expressway. |
