Description

Description

NAKED is a boutique production company from Serbia founded by female producer Čarna Vučinić. This mini-slate includes the feature films Uptight Ass and I’ll Plant My Hands in the Garden. In addition, the short film Nobody Said Anything is included. Uptight Ass is directed by Serbian filmmaker Matija Gluščević. This is his second feature following the success of Have You Seen This Woman? (Venice Film Festival 2022). This genre-bending queer drama combines magical realism, black comedy, and thriller elements, taking the audience on a wild ride that externalises everything the protagonist has buried deep within his own ‘arse’. I’ll Plant My Hands in the Garden is co-written and co-directed by a Iranian-Serbian duo, Hoda Taheri and Boris Hadžija. This marks their feature debut after the success of their “Mother” short trilogy, presented in three successive years at the Locarno FF (2022-2024). This film explores complex themes of family dynamics, migration, bureaucracy, and heteronormativity. Inspired by the recent feminist-led protests in Iran, the film addresses social taboos surrounding womanhood and personal freedom. NAKED’s mini-slate concludes with Nobody Said Anything, the first professionally produced short film by upcoming female director Tamara Todorović, whose previous student works have enjoyed strong festival runs. In addition to developing these three projects, the goal of this mini-slate is to catalyse and expand NAKED’s presence within the Serbian, Balkan, and European film markets. NAKED’s lead producer, Čarna Vučinić, has produced bold, artistically ambitious films that have premiered at prestigious festivals such as Venice, Locarno, Sarajevo and New Directors/New Films, among others, with distribution both in theatres and small screens across Europe. Many of these films were produced independently or through alternative channels. The purpose of this mini-slate is to provide NAKED and the projects a stable platform for development and production.
