Description | Nam Con Son is a $1.3 billion project involving the development of an offshore gas field, construction of 399 kilometers of a 24-inch diameter pipeline (370 km under the sea and 29km on land), onshore processing facilities. The pipeline portion of the project began in March 2001 but only began delivering gas to the state-owned PetroVietnam in December 2002 and will continue to do so for approximately 20 years. The project was developed by a joint venture among Petro Vietman, Vietnam's Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Videsh Limited 51%),BP (32.6%), and ConocoPhillips (16.3%). The gas will be transported to Phu My industrial area close to Ho Shi Minh city to supply three power plants and one urea plant. |
