Description | The proposed project consists of: (a) installation at the existing Nam Ngum Hydroelectric Plant of: (i) a fifth turbine generator unit of 40 MW capacity, together with a short penstock and an associated intake gate, and hoist and trash racks; (ii) auxiliary equipment including a standby heat exchanger; (iii) communication equipment; and (iv) a step-up substation; (b) carrying out of the civil works associated with (a) above; (c) engineering consulting services for (a) and (b) above; (d) power development studies; (e) assistance to EDL to reduce electricity distribution losses; and (f) training of EDL staff and provision of training tools, metering equipment, and accounting machines. |
