Namibia Domestic Uranium Processing Facility

Namibia is negotiating with China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) to establish domestic uranium processing capabilities, aiming to move beyond raw uranium export to at least the conversion stage of the nuclear fuel cycle. This project includes ambitions for nuclear power generation, potentially involving small modular reactors (SMRs) to suit Namibia's electricity demand profile. The initiative is part of Namibia's 6th National Development Plan targeting a minimum of N$20 billion in nuclear energy investment to reduce electricity import reliance and increase economic value capture from uranium resources.
