Nanaimo - RD - Oceanside Place Arena Heat Recovery and Energy Upgrades

The proposed project at the Regional District of Nanaimo’s existing Oceanside Place Arena will recover heat from the refrigeration plant and upgrade air-handling and dehumidification. The project will eliminate the building’s natural gas-fired space heating, improve ventilation, and reduce more than 80% of greenhouse gas emissions. The project works will include: - heat pump(s) for refrigeration plant heat recovery; - medium-temperature heat distribution piping, fittings, and pumps; - upgraded air-handling unit with hydronic coils; - high-efficiency replacement dehumidifier, electric backup unit, and upgraded controls; - removal of existing gas-fired radiant heaters; and - mechanical, electrical, control/monitoring, signage, and other related works and appurtenances.
