"The Chair ""Narratifs Européens de la frontière"" from the point of view of EU Law aims to create a new offer of teaching at Master level at the University of Strasbourg on the use of border concepts in EU Law. The COVID19 crisis has revealed a lack of coherent narratives on borders of and in the EU. Although the Single Market deals with a Europe without borders, the border as such is not an object of EU law. The chair fills in this gap by proposing three innovative legal approaches on European borders: the first on the confrontation between internal and external borders, the second on cross-border cooperation as a specific space of legal development and the third on a European Model of management of borders. The activities proposed are threefold: first, a set of courses by the chairholder and associated specialists for Master students at the University of Strasbourg dealing with Internal Market Law, legal aspects of borders and EU integration, management of EU Internal borders, the evolution of borders in the field of Energy Law, and Borders and Health Law. Second, three “disputatio seminars” will bring together Master students and researchers for a discussion on the three legal narratives on EU borders, and third a franco-german applied research workshop will assess study and policy options in the field of energy. The Chair will lead to the publication of an Essay on Borders in EU Law, a Good Practices Guide for schoolteachers, a set of teaching videos on the evolution of the concept of borders in EU Law and podcasts and radio broadcast and a final conference. It is designed as a ""mirror"" Chair at the university of Strasbourg, with a second Chair proposed on the role of borders in the history of European Integration by a fellow researcher at Sciences Po Strasbourg."
