Description | In August 2005, Public Works Department (PWD)of Government of Rajasthan signed a 7 year concession contract (including 12 month of construction period) to India’s Murari Lal Agarwal Construction Pvt. Ltd. to strengthen the 31.5 km section on State Highway 26 (SH 26) between Nasirabad, Kekri and Deoli in the state of Rajasthan. Under the contract, Murari Lal Agarwal Construction Pvt. Ltd. was responsible for the rehabilitation, finance, operation and maintenance of the existing two-lane highway. The project was expected to ease traffic congestion and give significant stimulus to trade and commerce in the entire region. Murari Lal Agarwal Construction Pvt. Ltd. won the tender through competitive bidding, conducted by PWD, Rajasthan, by requesting the lowest concession period of 7 years. The SPV was to recover the capital costs and operating costs including returns through tolls during the concession period (excluding construction period). The concession agreement for the project was signed in August 2005. The total capital cost of the project was estimated at US$ 5 million. Construction on the project began in August 2005 and was expected to be completed by August 2006. |
