Description
Description | This project involves the expansion, maintenance, and operation of Natal International Airport, located in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The project works encompass improvements to the airport’s infrastructure, security, passenger experience, and sustainability measures. Planned enhancements include upgrades to the terminal's air conditioning, cleaning, and restoration, the installation of free and unlimited 5G connectivity, and increased waste diversion rates from 15% to 85%. These developments aim to modernize the airport and attract additional passenger and cargo routes, particularly international, boosting tourism and economic growth in the region. The project is being led by Concessionária do Aeroporto Internacional de Natal S.A., a subsidiary of the Swiss group Flughafen Zurich AG, which operates major airports worldwide, including Zurich Airport in Switzerland and several in Brazil and Latin America. The concessionaire secured the 30-year contract for Natal International Airport in a re-bidding auction held in 2023.The total project cost is $45.4 (R$274) million, of which $30.65 (R$185) million is financed by the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). An additional $12.43 (R$75) million was raised through a public offering of incentivized debentures, coordinated by BNDES, with participation from two capital market investors. Financial close is achieved on December 13, 2024. https://agenciadenoticias.bndes.gov.br/detalhe/noticia/BNDES-apoia-ampliacao-do-Aeroporto-Internacional-de-Natal-em-emissao-de-debentures-de-R$-260-mi/ |
