Description | India is setting up seven fully operational vehicle testing facilities, including crash testing labs, under the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRIP). These centres will rate cars on passenger safety features and fuel efficiency, providing star ratings to help consumers make informed choices. The centres are located in Manesar, Bengaluru, Rai Bareli, Silchar, Indore, Pune, and Chennai, with a total investment of Rs 3,700 crore. The testing includes mandatory frontal and side car crash tests for new models from October 2017 and for existing models from 2019. |
