Description | The project involves first the expansion of the Athi River grinding plant of National Cement Company Limited (“NCCL”), in order to have an installed nominal cement grinding capacity of 1.7 million tons per annum (Mtpa) of Portland cement. It is located at Athi River, c.40 km south of Nairobi, Kenya’s capital. Secondly, a new clinker production line will be built at Merueshi, c.160 km south of Nairobi, near the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. The nominal capacity of the kiln is expected to be 3,300 tons per day (tpd) or 1.1Mtpa, assuming a maximum 330 days of annual operation. |
