The National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project (NCRMP) was approved by the Government of India to develop improved infrastructure in Indian states highly vulnerable to cyclones. The project aimed to minimize cyclone damage, enhance disaster resilience of people and infrastructure, and conserve coastal ecosystems. It was implemented across eight coastal states in two phases, including components like Early Warning Dissemination System, Multi-Purpose Cyclone Shelters, Evacuation Roads/Bridges, Saline Embankment, Underground Cabling, Technical Assistance for Multi-Hazard Risk Management, Capacity Building, and Project Management Support.
