Description | The Government of India has announced fresh capacity awards and pilot projects under the National Green Hydrogen Mission to position the country as a global hub for green hydrogen. The mission allocated 3,000 MW per year of electrolyser manufacturing capacity to 15 companies to build domestic manufacturing capability. Additionally, 18 companies were awarded a total green hydrogen production capacity of 0.862 million tonnes per year for early-stage commercial projects. The government also facilitated price discovery for green ammonia supply to fertiliser plants and allocated green hydrogen supply to major oil companies and a refinery. Five pilot projects in the steel sector and a bunkering and refuelling facility for green methanol at V O Chidambaranar Port Authority were approved. Pilot projects for hydrogen-powered vehicles and refuelling stations were also sanctioned. |
