National Infrastructure Projects in Canada

planned

Most Canadians prioritize national infrastructure projects, including energy projects such as pipelines and oil and gas routes, despite opposition from provinces, Indigenous groups, or environmental concerns. The Carney government introduced Bill C-5 to accelerate the approval process for major infrastructure projects deemed in the 'national interest' and to remove interprovincial trade barriers. Ontario's Bill 5 allows suspension of provincial and municipal laws in special economic zones. Legal challenges have been launched by Indigenous communities against these bills.
