Description

Description

As part of the FC project National Parks Programme (Bwabwata, Mudumu, Mamili, Khaudum) Phase IIIb (BMZ No. - ), the Namibian Ministry of the Environment is being supported in the development and implementation of integrated park management approaches in the northern national parks. The FC funds amounting to EUR 3 million are to be used to finance investments in the park infrastructure in the Mamili / Nkasa Rupara NP and as a supplement to the existing project, National Parks Programme (Bwabwata, Mudumu, Mamili, Khaudum) Phase III. In addition, the implementation of the integrated management plans and the cooperation of the MET staff with the park inhabitants and the adjacent communities and conservancies are to be further supported. The common goal of the current project and Project IIIb is the efficient protection of the national parks in northeast Namibia against pressure for use. The parks act as corridors for wild animal migration and represent a competitive tourist destination. The park residents and the local population are expected to benefit economically from the national park complex. For reasons of efficiency, the additional measures are to be implemented together with the ongoing project.
