Description

The National Power Supply Co. Ltd. is developing a 300-MW (2x150-MW) at an estimated cost of $400 million. National Power Supply Co. is jointly owned by CMS Energy Corporation (66%) and Soon Hua Seng Group (34%). The plant will use anthracite, wood chips and excess steam as fuel. Two PPAs were signed in December 1996 with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) to sell 90-MW for each of the plants' 150-MW turbines. The remaining steam energy generated by the project will be used by the Advance Power Supply Group. The plant is being developed under the Small Power Producer (SPP) Program that encourages the sale of excess output to EGAT upon completion, expected to occur during 1998. GEC-Alsthom will supply two 150-MW turbines. Foster Wheeler Energia Oy will design and install the equipment. Financing is being obtained from Bangkok Bank, Krung Thai Bank, Industrial Finance Corp. of Thailand and Siam City Bank. The power plant commenced operations in Jul. 1999. None None
