The project would support implementation of the initial stage of the Government's National Disaster and Risk Management Plan. Specifically, the operation will finance three sets of activities for the national system for flood early warning: (a) equipment and related services will be procured in the three principal components of a flood early warning system, including hydro meteorological monitoring and forecasting equipment and stations, a communications system, and preparedness and response equipment and activities; (b) institutional strengthening for principal agencies; and (c) an awareness and education campaign.
