Description

Description

The aim of the FC project is to protect biodiversity in mountain ecosystems, especially the Paramos, cloud forests and water catchment areas. This is to be achieved through holistic landscape management approaches and integrated management of water resources. This is to improve the living conditions of the surrounding population, secure the water supply for the population and preserve the unique biodiversity in the Andes of Ecuador. Furthermore, the project could help to reduce the vulnerability of the population in the project region to climate change. Possible measures of the FC project could be - support in the establishment of protected areas in the Paramos and their inclusion in the national protected areas system SNAP (Sistema de Áreas Naturales Protegidas) - improvement of the management of protected areas in the Paramos, taking climate data into account; - measures to protect, restore and improve the landscape management of water protection areas; - (Reforestation) measures to protect water catchment areas.
