Description | Sector Protection of the environment and natural resources Core problem The Ministry of the Environment and Water does not have the procedures, tools and alliances to counter increasing threats and to involve other actors as well as the local population in the effective management of marine and coastal protected areas, thus ensuring the protection of valuable ecosystems. Module objective The aim of the module is to strengthen effective and participatory management of marine and coastal protected areas in priority regions by investing in infrastructure and equipment for protected area administrations and by financing planning documents at protected area level, but also at network level. Direct target group The local population in the protected areas and their surroundings who depend on the use of natural resources. Indirect target group The protected area administrations, the relevant units of the Ministry of the Environment and Water, and state actors responsible for fisheries and control. Indirect target group The population who benefits from the preservation of biodiversity and its ecosystem services.
